What Is Bullying or Harassment? Bullying or harassment happens when a student is intentionally hurt, threatened, intimidated, or made to feel unsafe by another student.

This behavior may be:

  • Verbal (name-calling, teasing, threats)
     
  • Physical (hitting, pushing, damaging belongings)
     
  • Social or Emotional (spreading rumors, exclusion, embarrassment)
     
  • Written or Electronic (texts, emails, social media, online posts)
     

Bullying or harassment can happen once or repeatedly and may be based on personal characteristics identified in district policy.

What Is Not Allowed?

  • Bully, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm another student
     
  • Make a student feel afraid, unsafe, or unwelcome at school
     
  • Disrupt a student’s learning or school experience
     

These rules apply:

  • On school campuses
     
  • On school buses
     
  • At school activities or events
     
  • Through electronic communication that affects school life
     

What Should Students and Parents Do

  • Tell a trusted adult immediately (teacher, counselor, administrator)
     
  • Parents should contact the school as soon as possible
     
  • Reports may be made in person, in writing, or electronically
     

Students are encouraged to speak up. Reporting bullying is the right thing to do, and retaliation is strictly prohibited.

What Should Students and Parents Do?

This form may be used by a student, a student's parent, or guardian to submit a complaint regarding Bullying, Intimidation, Violence, and Threats of Violence as defined by state law and school system policy.
