Transportation

Welcome to Transportaion!

Lowndes County Public Schools provide 100% transportation to its students within a 716 square mile radius.  We have approximately 35 buses in route each morning beginning at 6:00 a.m.

We are proud to have been awarded the School Bus Safety Award for the past three years of 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Student Transportation

Student transportation for selected activities is provided by the Board as a service to the students of the School District.  The Board reserves the right to deny a student or students the privilege of being transported at public expense provided the policies outlined are not followed.

It is the parents responsibility to provide transportation for their child/children to and from school activities. However, school transportation may beused for transporting athletic teams, bands and other groups to evens in which they participate.  When transportaion is furnished to a student beyond normal school hours, ist shall becoome the responsibility of the principal and the sponsor of the activity to contact parent or guardian to arrange for the student to be picked up at the school or at a point designated in writing by the principal or sponsor and agreed upon by the parent or guardian.  Under no circumstances shall the princiapl, sponsor of activiity or bus driver leave the student at a point without the assurance of safe transportation home.  The designated pick up pointsf or parents will be the same throughout the school year.
