Lowndes County Public Schools has incorporated in its schools the Renaissance Products, STAR Reading and Accelerated Reader over the past eight years. Our students in grades K-8 complete the STAR Reading tests quarterly. STAR Reading measures students' reading comprehension and compares the results to students across the nation. The results from the tests also determines student's Instructional Reading Level (IRL), and Grade Equivalent (GE). This data is used to assist teachers with instruction and intervention. Thus, students in grades K-12 checks out books and takes the Accelerated Reader test on the computer after they have finished reading what is designated as an AR book.
