Required Materials
Each student is responsible to come to EVERY class with the following items:
- Assigned Textbook and/or Workbook(Algebraic Connection and Algebra I ONLY)
- Notebook Binder
- Dividers
- Pencil Pouch
- Pencil Sharpener
- Pencils/Pens/Highlighters
- Personal Expo Marker
- Colored Pencils
- Notebook Paper
- Calculator (scientific or TI)
Technology
Please respect all technology that is provided in the classroom. If you do not have a calculator, then you may ask for permission to borrow one in the classroom. At the end of the class period, all calculators and IPads will be collected. Class will not be dismissed until all IPads are accounted for. Any other technology not provided by the teacher is NOT allowed, unless given permission by the teacher.

Grading
Students will be graded on the following:
- Classwork/Quizzes/Essays/Pre-Tests (Minor)
- Tests/Notebooks/Projects/Post-Test (Major)
- Progress Report- Progress reports will go out in conjunction with the school. However, a student or parent may request a progress report at any time.
- Make-up Work- For excused absences ONLY, students must have an excuse note from the front office in order to receive missed work. It is the student responsibility to obtain their missing notes. All tests and quizzes must be made up during my planning, before, or after school.
- Cheating- Any student caught cheating or helping another student cheat will have their test/quiz/essay taken up and they will be given a zero. In addition, parents will be notified of the incident.
Heading of Paper
Each student will place their name, date, period, and the assignment title in the top right-hand corner of the paper. Failure to do so will result in earning a zero because the required information is not provided. The student will not be allowed to go back and put their name or the assignment on their paper.
Math Notebook
Your Math Notebook should include 6 sections:
- Bellringers/ Exit Slip
- Vocabulary
- Notes
- Homework
- Test Prep
Notebooks will sporadically be checked (daily grade) and will always be taken up at the end of each 9 weeks (test grade).
Classroom Rules
- Respect yourself, respect others, and respect the Teacher!
- Be on time and ready to begin class with all required materials each day, the teacher will not provide them for you.
- Food and drinks (except water) are NOT allowed in the classroom.
- Disruptive behavior (sleeping, talking, off task, etc.) will not be accepted.
- Students will only work on mathematics during the class period. Work that is not a part of the lesson is prohibited. Students will only be allowed to work on other class work with the teacher’s permission.
- Cell phones will not be allowed at any time. If student is caught with a cell phone, it will be taken for 1 day (1st offense), 2 days (2nd offense), and 3 days (3rd offense). Parents will be notified as well.
Pre/Post Tests
All students will be required to take Pre/Post Tests to designated subject areas to assess learning. Pre/Post Test scores will be entered into INOW as a daily grade.
Consequences
1st Offense- Warning, Reseated, and Extended Assignment
2nd Offense- Loss of homework pass, Parent contact, Reseated, and Extended Assignment
3rd Offense- Office referral, Loss of homework pass, Reseated, Extended Assignment, and Parent/Teacher/Principal/Student Conference
*Rules and student seating are susceptible to changes according to Ms. Carter!
Classroom Procedures
Before class…
- Come into class on time, prepare all necessary materials, and begin on the bellringer when the bell rings.
- If you are late, you must have a hall pass from the previous teacher or the tardy will result in an office referral based on school regulations.
- Make sure you go to the restroom before class begins or wait until the class period is over or until Mrs. Carter gives you permission.
During class…
- Please respect the teacher by refraining from talking during instruction time. After Instruction, you are free to talk about math using your inside voices while staying on task and in your seat. Sleeping will not be tolerated at all. Everyone needs to learn and master the material.
- Requests to leave class may only be permitted after instruction and when assignments are completed.
After class…
- Books must be checked out of the classroom if a student would like to take a book home. Students may only take home the book that Ms. Carter assigns them.
- Please make sure your area is clean before you leave the classroom.
- Remember, once the bell rings, you must wait for the teacher to dismiss the class.
