More than 400 cadets from 30 different high schools across Alabama joined forces for a week-long summer camp at Fort McClellan, Alabama. It’s part of the JROTC program and included members of the Army, Air Force and Marines.
Summer camp gave students a way to see what JROTC's youth leadership program is about. It gave them the opportunity to meet new people, gain confidence and self-discipline, build teamwork and just had a lot of fun. Activities included a 40-foot rappel wall, Leadership Reaction Course, weapons simulator, ropes course and swimming challenges.
The cadets also took part in a college and career fair at Jackson State University to explore their options after high school.
It’s tough. It gets harder by the day, but if you make it through it’s a great accomplishment.
