Our Philosophy

The philosophy and goals of the Project Success Alternative Learning Center are coherent with that of the state, district and county school system, in addition to President George W. Bush's No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (see it on the left).  With that in mind, our philosophy is centered around the belief that every child has the inherent right to receive an education commensurate with his/her needs and abilities.  Such education should provide the student with the skills and ability to solve problems and lead a productive, socially acceptable, and happy life.  We are committed to serving young people in a positive manner regardless of circumstances.

A major function of Project Success is provide instruction and guide each student so that he/she will be leave the program functioning satisfactorily in a regular classroom setting.  In doing this, we recognize the importance of actively seeking the advice and assistance of competent individuals and community agencies.

Furthermore, we believe that the real art of teaching and learning is best observed through behavioral changes and with that teaching and guidance, if effective, resulting in each student becoming productive citizens in society.

What is Project Success?

Project Success is the central location for the Alternative Learning Center for Lowndes County students who experience behavioral problems inside the classroom and it also houses the Acceleration Program designed for students who are experiencing academic difficulties that has resulted in their failure of one of more grades; a program, which is our primary focus.  These students therefore, seek an opportunity to attempt to excel in a smaller classroom environment and accelerate to their appropriate grade levels through clearly defined program and curriculum standards.

Location

Project Success is located on the back of the campuses of Central High and Elementary Schools, perpendicular to the elementary school cafeteria or adjacent to the Head Start buildings at 141 Main Street, Hayneville, AL  36040.

 NCLB

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (No Child Left Behind) is a landmark in education reform designed to improve student achievement and change the culture of America's schools. President George W. Bush describes this law as the "cornerstone of my administration." Clearly, our children are our future, and, as President Bush has expressed, "Too many of our neediest children are being left behind."

With this in mind, part of our success is based on this principal; therefore driving us to ensure that none of our students are left behind.
