The Alternative Learning Center services students from Calhoun High,
Central High, Hayneville Middle and Lowndes Middle schools who fail
to conform the rules and standards set by the Board of Education and
their perspective school administrators and are suspended.
Students are recommended to the Center by a committee consisting of
a chairman, their school principal, a counselor and a teacher.
Students and their parents or guardians are informed verbally and in
writing of the meeting regarding recommendation to the Alternative
Learning Center in advance. Attendance is mandatory at each
meeting. Once adjourned, students are recommended at times to
the center from 20 to 45 days.
