Acceleration Program

Two of Lowndes County's school participate in Project Success' Acceleration Program:  Hayneville Middle and Lowndes Middle.  Students from grades seventh (7) and eighth (8) who are two grades behind academically are selected for participation.  Sixth (6) graders are considered under extenuating circumstances and with committee approval.

Each student assigned to Project Success will remain in the program until he/she achieves a score of 73 or higher on a skills test, measured on an 8th grade level, in the areas of Math, Reading, and Language Arts.  Students are tested in the middle and at the end of the of the 18-weeks.  Students who achieve a score of 73 or better on the test and complete minimum requirements in the classroom instruction needed as required for promotion, will advance to their proper grade.  Students who do not meet the minimum requirements will remain in the Acceleration Program for an additional 18 weeks.
