SEPTEMBER IS ATTENDANCE AWARENESS MONTH
As we promote Attendance Awareness Month, we are urging all students to be in attendance at school every day. Research has proven that students who attend school daily, perform better academically. Every day a student is absent is a lost opportunity for learning.
Check out some of the chat that is taking place on Twitter:
#schooleveryday Good attendance helps children do well in school and eventually in the workplace. #schooleveryday #ALattendanceawareness
Excused and unexcused absences quickly add up to too much time lost in the classroom, starting in kindergarten and even pre-k, especially for the most vulnerable populations. #schooleveryday
Students are at risk academically if they miss 10 percent of the school year, or about 18 days. Once too many absences occur, they can affect learning, regardless of whether absences are excused or unexcused. #schooleveryday
Chronic absence is a problem we can solve when the whole community works with, families and schools. #schooleveryday #ALattendanceawareness
Chronic absence, missing 10 percent or more of the school year does not just affect the students who miss school. #schooleveryday #ALattendanceawareness
