Head Start is a federally funded child development program designed to help break the cycle of poverty by providing children of low-income families with comprehensive programs to meet their emotional, social, health, nutritional and mental health needs. The approach is that the parent is the child’s primary teacher and that the entire family, as well as the community, must be involved.
Therefore, the mission of the Lowndes County BOE Head Start program is to empower our families by providing educational and family focused opportunities to improve their economic well-being and healthy lifestyle. We will accomplish this mission one child, one family at a time by involving parents and securing highly qualified staff.
